Owner, Manager, Funeral Director and Embalmer
Phillip Breedlove, a U.S. Army veteran and graduate of Gupton-Jones Mortuary College, is an active member and deacon in First Baptist Church, member of Barnesville-Lamar County Chamber of Commerce, Barnesville Rotary Club, Pinta Lodge #88, Johnstonville Community Club and American Legion Post 25. He is the President of the Barnesville Lamar Lions Club.
Phillip is a Certified Funeral Service Practitioner with the Academy of Professional Funeral Service Practice, a member of the Georgia Society of Graduate Embalmers, and member and past district chair for the Georgia Funeral Directors Association.
Phillip moved to Barnesville at the age of 12. He is the son of the late Johnny Breedlove and the late Nadine and George McKenzie, and the brother of the late Gary Breedlove, the late Mike Breedlove and Jeff Breedlove. After high school he joined the United States Army where he served for seven years, over three of those in Germany. When he was ready to leave the military life he thought about how much he admired and respected his uncle who was a funeral director in Miami, Florida and decided that he wanted to follow in his footsteps.
Phillip began his funeral service apprenticeship in 1991 with McMullen's Mortuary in Columbus, Georgia and later completed the apprenticeship at H. M. Patterson's and Sons in Atlanta, Georgia. After graduating from Gupton Jones Mortuary College, Phillip remained at H. M. Patterson's and Sons for several years. He joined Pasley-Fletcher Funeral Home in Thomaston in 1997 and later worked at Williams Funeral Home in Barnesville for just a few months before being offered the opportunity to move across the state to LaGrange in 1998. At Hunter-Allen-Myhand Funeral Home in LaGrange, Phillip began as a funeral director and embalmer. Before the end of the year, he was promoted to Managing Partner and served in that capacity until his fifteenth anniversary in June, 2013, when he moved back to Barnesville.
